divination of destruction

This sculpture is a warning of the catastrophic consequences of our actions. Subconsciously, we inflict destruction onto this beautiful planet and the crystal ball (which takes the form of the earth) foretells these events. We are unaware of the harm we cause every day, and the impact of every decision we make.
In combination with this dire message, a squid clings onto the crumbling world, holding together what is left with the hope that nature will somehow defy the odds and live on, as has repeatedly occurred with the way organic life has thrived in abandoned settlements and found ways to regenerate. Just one example of this is how decommissioned oil rigs have been reclaimed and organically transformed into “artificial reefs”, which are safe havens for endangered species.

FUNGUS WILL SAVE US ALL

Mushrooms are only the fruiting body of the fungus, and fungus is one of the most incredible and underappreciated life forms to exist.
Not only do they provide us with food and nutrients, but their capabilities are far beyond our comprehension. Unnoticeable mycorrhizal fungus conducts and allow carbon transmission between trees and protect our trees from disease by transmitting warning hormones, scientists have cultivated a strand of oyster mushrooms which can biodegrade cigarette butts and nappies to the point where carcinogens cannot be detected, and the toxicity is neutralized.
We should appreciate the beauty and importance of this species, and honor it, hence why I have created a fungus crown, to pay homage to our surroundings and to ask YOU to appreciate the life forms which often go unnoticed despite playing essential roles on our planet.

mud

this is made from mud.
we come from the earth, and to it we shall return.

tower of culture

The form of this sculptural yet functional artwork is based of the landmark "Tower of London". Through this piece, I convey the rich multicultural society that is London, through the honouring of traditional ceramic techniques and processes from across the globe. Here, our differences are celebrated as this sculpture demonstrates that the interlacing of diverse cultures allows us to form something far bigger and brighter, from which life flourishes and blossoms as we come together to form one.

the world from the perspective of a snail

This was a six month long project which resulted in exhibition at CSoA. It was not necessarily about the specifics of snail hood, but seeing the world from a different perspective and trying to share the message that all creatures, even the less stereotypically 'cute' animals deserve our compassion and love.
As animals ourselves, our lives should not be considered more important than that of other animals since we all have the same quality of consciousness and sentience.
empathy should not be exclusive to the human race.
issue #5 of the snail's mail functioned as the exhibition leaflet for this exhibition.
